Summary
Simon, Bryce and William talked about various topics in the ecommerce space!
They started by looking at statistics for ecommerce dates in 2018. The top four dates were Black Friday, Click Frenzy, Boxing Day and Singles Day. All of them showed a growth percentage of above 10% from 2017. Singles Day is a date originating from China, and the topic moves on to the Trade War.
They estimated how the war will affect ecommerce. It will affect currency rates and tariffs. According to a video, there is a way to bypass the tariffs. When you are importing products from China, the products will first be sent to other neighbouring countries. This is for the small finishing touches such as barcoding. As a result, it is not considered as coming from China.
The next topic was augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality. These technologies are making it easier for the customer to imagine the use of the product without physical restrictions. For example, IKEA uses AR so customers can see what their room would look like with their product.
After talking about advanced technology, they started talking about omnichannel approaches. Pop up stores are a great way to show your product to the public. Our three speakers mentioned that collaborating with your friends or local stores could be a good idea.
They then proceeded to the topic of mobile ecommerce. They discuss the reasons behind its growth. Everyone is used to looking at their phone and buying online now. If you present your ads or product photos on social media and they want the products, they can easily buy them. Simon dropped a tip for mobile ecommerce too. If you are a small business and you get comments, try to reply always.
This episode was packed with many pieces of information and tips.
